Born and brought up in Dumfries, Nicola retrained as a Reflexologist in New York City in 2010 after a career switch from Marketing and subsequently specialised in Reproductive Reflexology, running a successful therapy business in Henley-on-Thames.
Having completed an intensive, hands-on, three-year degree in Acupuncture at the Northern College of Acupuncture in York, she is now working towards her MSc Acupuncture. She is currently conducting research into the effects of acupuncture on the community affected by the Grenfell Tower Fire in London. Her research topic reflects her special interest in stress, anxiety and PTSD. She also has an interest in fertility/women’s health and musculoskeletal issues.
Nicola champions the concept that mind and body are interlinked and that each influences the other. It is her wish to bring acupuncture to the Moffat community to improve health and wellbeing in ways that are meaningful to each individual.
To ensure that acupuncture remains accessible to all sectors of our community, Nicola offers a low-cost community acupuncture sessions, where treatment is delivered in a small group setting.
The British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) is the UK governing body for acupuncture. It sets and maintains high standards of training and practice. Nicola adheres to their strict codes of safety and practice. She is also fully insured and licensed by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Handy with the sewing machine, she designs and sews fleece covers for Lafuma Reflexology chairs, bolsters and blankets for her fellow therapists in the UK, Europe and USA. Trading as Singers Lane Reflexology, you can find them here.
